Advance Resilience in Development Code and Development Review (3.H.2.)

Status Indicators: Complete | In Progress| Not Yet Started

To ensure public health and safety, the City will continue to improve the development process to discourage growth near potential hazards (e.g., floodplains, the wildland urban interface), encourage resilient design, and encourage Low Impact Development (LID).

  • The City is updating the Unified Development Code (UDC) to facilitate increased housing density, infill and redevelopment, housing affordability, climate action plan objectives, sustainable building practices, and a transparent, predictable, and understandable development review process. Code revisions enhance connectivity and active transportation that enhance resilient design. Completion in 2024 is expected.
  • Adoption of Floodplain Regulations, Ordinance 2057, updated Bozeman's municipal regulation of floodplain management for development, subdivision, zoning, and environmental health and resiliency.

Completion of the Unified Development Code (UDC) is expected in 2024.
