Status Indicators: Complete | In Progress| Not Yet Started
The City of Bozeman will work with the Local Food Council to strengthen the food supply chain by supporting farmers, ranchers, processors, and other food sector businesses through City Economic Development programs and supporting the development of food processing and distribution centers within or close to City limits.
- The Sustainability Division completed the Local Food System Preliminary Mapping Project in 2024. The project consisted of a series of interviews with over 80 participants representing various perspectives throughout the local food system. The project was intended to build partnerships, help identify the potential role of local government and explore opportunities for the City of Bozeman to collaborate with local partners to better support a robust local food system. The final report includes Opportunities and Next Steps that were identified as actionable steps the City can take.
- The Economic Development supports Prospera Business Network’s Montana Food and Agricultural Development Center (FADC). This network helps Montanans innovate and grow businesses that produce and commercialize food, agricultural and renewable energy products and processes, creating wealth and jobs in our communities and on our farms and ranches.
- The Sustainability Division will continue to implement the Next Steps identified in the Local Food System Preliminary Mapping Project and will continue to explore opportunities that were identified in the report.
