Support Local Food Production, Processing, and Distribution (6.N.4.)
Status Indicators: Complete | In Progress| Not Yet Started
The City of Bozeman will work with the Local Food Council to strengthen the food supply chain by supporting farmers, ranchers, processors, and other food sector businesses through City Economic Development programs and supporting the development of food processing and distribution centers within or close to City limits.
- The Sustainability Division started the Local Food System Preliminary Mapping Project. The project consists of interviews with constituents from various facets of the local food system. The goals of the project are to deepen the City’s understanding of the current food system, cultivate partnerships, and inform how the City can support a robust local food system.
- The Economic Development supports Prospera Business Network’s Montana Food and Agricultural Development Center (FADC). This network helps Montanans innovate and grow businesses that produce and commercialize food, agricultural and renewable energy products and processes, creating wealth and jobs in our communities and on our farms and ranches.
The Sustainability Division will continue the Local Food System Preliminary Mapping Project and implement recommendations.
