Pursue Sustainable Transit Funding and Expansion (4.J.4.)

The City of Bozeman and partners will work to identify a dedicated funding source to support and expand Bozeman’s existing transit system so that it is accessible and reliable. Beyond funding, the City must also encourage transit-oriented development (TOD). TODs are typically mixed-use districts with enough jobs, residential units, attractions, and amenities to support a successful transit system. Other features of TODs include walkability and bikeability to ensure commuters can travel these ways safely and can also connect to and from transit stops.
- The City and its partners established the Gallatin Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) in 2023 for purposes of regional transportation planning, including transit planning
- The City will play an active role in supporting the Gallatin Valley Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO).
- The Public Works Department will support regional funding for transit and promote transit-oriented developments.
