Advance Electrification Upgrades and Conversion Projects for City Facilities (1.C.1.)

The City will convert select City facilities and equipment to all or mostly electric, with the goal of full electric conversion as technologies continue to advance. The City will also require all-electric new construction for new City facilities where feasible.
- Bozeman Fire Station 2, construction completed in August of 2024, was built to optimize systems to maximize energy efficiency and is designed with the capability to transition primarily to electric power. This includes the EV readiness for future installations of chargers for electric fire trucks and public charging. The building includes a 53 kW Photovoltaic array, VRF heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, SolarWalls, heat recovery ventilator, a high-performance envelope, and drought tolerant landscaping. - The Bozeman Public Library remodel incorporated efficiency and electrification strategies, including an induction stove for Library user groups.
- The Forestry Division began to phase out small gas-powered equipment and switch to battery-powered equipment.
- The Strategic Services Department will continue to identify electrification opportunities within new and existing buildings.
