The City of Bozeman will analyze its purchasing policy and develop a plan to integrate source reduction and green purchasing into its requirements. The City will also develop a plan for hosting Zero Waste events for City operations.
- The City took steps to reduce landfill waste at the annual employee picnic by working with vendors to provide compostable products at the event. At the 2024 event, all cutlery, plates, napkins, cups, and tablecloths were compostable. There were recycling and composting stations with clear signage at the event.
- The Community Development Department transitioned to electronic plan review and the City Clerk moved to fully digital packet materials, dramatically reducing paper waste.
- The Sustainability Division has developed an internal Sustainable Events Guide to hosting Zero Waste events for City operations.
- The Sustainability Division will work with departments throughout the city to train employees on waste reduction practices and implement the Sustainable Events Guide.
