Promote Energy Efficiency Financing and Investment (1.A.6.)

Status Indicators: Complete | In Progress| Not Yet Started

The City of Bozeman will work with area financial institutions to develop a county-wide low-interest loan program to facilitate financing of energy efficiency and renewable energy systems. Through local and regional economic development entities, the City will build awareness and leverage partnerships to establish on-bill financing through Property Assessed Clean Energy, a statewide Montana Green Bank, and county-wide low-interest loan program.

  • Commercial Property Assessed Capital Enhancements (C-PACE) was enabled in Gallatin County. C-PACE is a financing tool that supports energy efficiency, water efficiency, EV Service Equipment, and renewable energy installations. C-PACE is administered by the Montana Facility Finance Authority.
  • City of Bozeman Sustainability staff toured the first C-PACE financed project in Gallatin County, the Bridger Brewing location in Three Forks, to learn about the project.

The City of Bozeman Sustainability Division will:

  • Continue to track federal and state financing and investment opportunities related to the Inflation Reduction Act as they become available.
  • Provide information about Gallatin PACE to all departments involved with development review to help encourage innovation in commercial building energy efficiency, water efficiency, renewable energy, Electric Vehicle (EV) infrastructure, and adaptive reuse and renovations.
  • Integrate information about Gallatin PACE into all relevant outreach materials.
